E67: All about stakeholders

The popular methods out there focus on applying a “process” to change, to make it happen. While they speak about stakeholders, and “people-focused change” there are some significant gaps in how they look at organizational stakeholders.

The Connected Change™ approach to identifying stakeholders focuses not only on who they are with respect to the organization and the structure, but importantly looking at how they are impacted by the change.

I talk through a big restructuring change that I worked on and how we identified stakeholders by how they were impacted, and the change solutions that were developed to support them.

Next, we get into what change impact is and how to evaluate it based on who your stakeholders are. I walk through an example from a technology implementation and how role-based stakeholder evaluation helped us identify where the highest amount of change impact was.

The highest areas of change impact? These are the likely areas where we will see change resistance start to come up.
