Why Looking Back is an Important Part of Moving Forward in Change

As we wind down the old year and prepare for the new, we are confronted with lots of messaging and thinking about change.  How we might be personally pursuing change in 2023: “new year, new you”!

Change and transformation is not always nicely packaged within the confines of one year.  Change takes time, and while we may wish to focus on the path forward, we also need to look at how far we have come.  In long and complex transformations, this is one important way to combat change fatigue.  Focusing solely on the road ahead is tiring. It looks impossible, but when we reflect on how far we’ve come and how much change we’ve already made, it gives us a sense of accomplishment, and reignites our energy to continue the journey and the road ahead.

I struggled to write this post all week. I’m constantly thinking of how much more I must do, and how many more hurdles are ahead, and I have to admit, I’m tired!  2022 was a year of incredible change for me and for the business, and so, leaning on this important practice was when the light went back on for me.  It’s amazing what a difference a year makes.

It’s been an incredible year for Charthouse – and this is in part, thanks to you! We’ve continued our mission to help organizations and leaders move through change successfully with Connected Change ™, a human-centered approach to transformation with the richness of context, systems design, group dynamics and the network effect at its core. We’ve also expanded our goal to make the power of Connected Change ™ accessible to change leaders like you!

2022 has been a year of change for Charthouse and for Connected Change.  Some of our headlines this year include:

Next year we have even more exciting things planned! We are going to be launching two courses in Connected Change ™ the first, to empower leaders who need to build effective change skills, and second, to offer a Connected Change ™ credential to help change leaders to plan and implement change successfully in environments that are complex and unpredictable.  We know that our changing world is making change even more challenging, and we are here to help!

It has been quite a year! We’re taking a step back over the next few weeks as we reset for 2023.  During this time, connect in via the Navigator Newsletter and you’ll be the first to know about all our exciting changes to come.  (hint, hint: Subscribe here!)

We are all taking some time to rest and review after an incredible year.  From us to all of you, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, and hope you enjoy the reflection and preparation for the year ahead.
